Week 20 - 21 Covid-19 wearables and GQT Dashboard

Week 20 - 21 I was tasked to research and enquire about different technology that would be useful in aiding against the corona virus. I looked into proximity sensoring wearables , face mask detecting cameras and thermal cameras. Through my research I created presentations to go to the board and to directors in recommending devices to use and the price etc. From the feedback we began planning the best way to purchase and implement such technology. I also began working on crating a centralised reporting site for GQT.

Week 17-19

Week 17 - 19 These 3 weeks where focused on developing the Engineering Innovation app, the Covid-19 checklist app and gathering requirements for the GQT Dashboard Engineering Innovation App progressed well over these 3 weeks i began working on functionality like a working favourites button, using out systems it was tough to figure out the logic to create this functionality but now it works saving individual users favourite projects to be stored and saved in and app database. The Covid-19 app was primarily tasked to 2 other apprentices, i offered support on user testing and front end functionality. A new requirement was given to me, i spoke with quality and we are now planning the best way to approach creating a centralised reporting place for GQT reports and data (a dashboard).

Week 16 - MTA

Week 16 This week was spent doing the MTA HTML5 training. In this training i was taught html, css and js. I found this week very useful, despite the fact i had already done lots of coding creating the BMS site i picked up on some new skills and best practices.

Week 15 - Sharepoint PowerUser and Covid app introduction

Week 15  In week 15 I began by presenting the Engineering Innovation to Innovation team, this meant creating a user guide on how to install and get up and running on the app and how to do the VW authentication. this was met with a few teething problems as there was a few technical issues in regards to the authenticator. In the middle of the week i completed share point 2019 Power user training meaning i could now create share point sites and work on them for the business. Another application idea was released to the team later in the week with requirements to be a Covid-19 checklist for people on site at Bentley. After the 1st meeting i began story boarding the user journey of the app and allocating tasks to the team who had capacity to start work on the App (Eg.who would be best placed to work on the applications data input database and who would be best placed to work on the UX/UI)

Week 13 & 14

Week 13 & 14 I began creating the screens for the engineering innovation app, linking them together and creating the user journey. I focused on UX/UI in making the screens user friendly and inviting to use.

Week 12 - Beginning Eng Inno

Week 12 -  March 2020 week 12 was my first week working from home due to Covid-19. I began to story board and create wire frames for the Engineering Innovation App. This is important in the development of an application as it gives you reference and a more clear plan when beginning to develop.

Week 11 - Mulesoft API training

Mule Soft API Training- March 2020 Day spent in London on a Mule soft training course. On this course we learn about the construction of APIs and how the software works in regards to organising data to be pulled. an Application Programming interface is a set of functions and procedures allowing the creation of applications that access the features or data of an operating system, application, or other service. This is useful in my job as a software developer it is good to understand how to pull data form a database into a font end.
